Become a Walk to Defeat ALS® Volunteer
Early Set Up
Arrive extra early and assist with unloading supplies, sign building, and setting up tables in specified areas. If you’re into physical labor, can lift up to 50 pounds, and follow instructions, we want you!
Second Shift Set Up
Make sure that the signs are placed and banners are hung. Get the tents ready for Walkers by setting up the tables and tablecloths.
This position is crucial to a smooth running event! It requires flexibility and the ability to lift. You'll help make sure everything stays perfect. Does a tent need extra chairs? Does a rest stop need more water?
If you like to meet and greet, this is the place for you! You will have the unique opportunity to greet and sign-in the participants (walkers) and also the day’s volunteers. This area will give you a chance to meet many of the people you are working with! Sign-in volunteers will also have the responsibility of collecting pledges from each participant. This is a GREAT location for groups of volunteers!
We need a few people in each location to hand t-shirts to qualified Walkers. Must be aware of "t-shirt rules."
Welcome Walkers. Be able to answer questions. Point people in the right direction. If you are a friendly, smiling person, this is the position for you!
This area requires upbeat, friendly people to provide refreshments to the attendees. You will assist in keeping the area clean and stocked. Volunteers in this area will also help break down the area after the event, clean up the area, and re-load supplies. This is a GREAT location for groups of volunteers!
Do you manage others well? Do you have an organized mind? We want you to help coordinate volunteers! This position calls for assessing needs and placing the appropriate volunteers to fulfill those needs!
Encourage people to sign petitions to lawmakers and become advocates themselves. Advocacy volunteers could be out mingling and recruiting signatures or behind a table answering questions about the disease.
Shutterbugs are needed to capture those “Kodak” moments! If you have a professional or educational background in photography, we need you and your camera. Digital Videographers are also needed for the day. Photos are expected within a week of event.
Tear Down/Clean Up
We need to leave these Walk sites cleaner than we found them! To do this, we need volunteers who will help pack up the event and load up cars/vans! Must be able to lift 20 pounds or more.
Complete the Volunteer Interest Form below and an ALS Association Florida Chapter staff member will contact you directly.
