If there was ever a community built to endure the challenges of a global pandemic, it is this Kids4Cure team. In many ways, the current climate underscores lessons we have learned over the past 17 years.
·The smallest things make a big difference. Every step, every dollar, every mask.
·We are in this together. All ages, all races, all genders.
·Life is precious. Hug your loved ones (Zoom hugs count), smell the roses, find your joy.
Over the past nearly two decades of Walks to Defeat ALS, we have also learned that a key part of walking is taking things in stride. This is no different. While we will not be able to congregate for an in-person walk this year, we are excited to invite you to a virtual “Chalk and Walk to Defeat ALS.”
Starting on September 1, we invite you to “chalk your walk” to spread awareness for ALS research and fundraising wherever you are. Share your chalk message on social media with the hashtags #ChalkToDefeatALS and #Kids4Cure. On Sunday September 20, Kids4Cure and other walk teams will participate in the ALS Association’s first virtual Walk to Defeat ALS. We invite you to tune into a Kids4Cure Team kickoff at 11:00 a.m. and, afterward, walk (in your Kids4Cure t-shirts!) wherever suits you best.
As the world changes around us, the strife for families affected by ALS is harder than ever. Lobbying for patient rights and treatment funding is harder than ever. Fundraising is harder than ever. Spreading awareness is harder than ever. But this team will just. keep. walking.
Please join us this September as we, step-by-step, get closer to finding a cure for our mother and all those affected by ALS.
Take the first step and JOIN OUR TEAM above,
We appreciate your support today and always. Let’s do this!
Thank you, Paul Carey, Jr. and Christian Carey.
