Kids4Cure Team members,
As this year's walk nears, we are all reminded that yet another year has passed. While we are grateful that our mother has beaten ALS for another year, we know that another walk means we have gone another year without finding a cure for this terrible disease. Please join us once again in our mission to find a cause and a cure for ALS. As our mother's disease has worsened and our family has lost many friends to ALS over the past year, it has never been more apparent that time is running out for all ALS patients. The disease has continued to progress, and so must our efforts to find an effective treatment & cure.

Hello everybody! Walk Day will be here before we know it, and it's time to begin spreading awareness & fundraising again. As always, our mother continues to be a fighter, and even though her disease is progressing, her spirits have never faltered. This is largely because of the tremendous love and support she has seen at walks in the past, and this year should be no different. Our mother may be blessed with having a slower case of ALS, but others are not so lucky. Over the years we've lost many friends to this disease, and this walk is not just for my mother but for all of them as well. We started out as "Kids" 4Cure and now we are both in college. Nonetheless we will not give up until we find a cure, we hope you won't either. If you can't attend on walk day, we encourage you to register as a "virtual walker",donate, and spread the word to friends and family.

Our 2010 Walk to Defeat ALS will be on Sunday, October 3rd at Winton Woods at 11:00 a.m. This year we are shifting our Kids4Cure registration process. You will not be able to register on our website www.kids4cure.com. Also, in the spirit of saving on postage, we will not be sending a letter through the mail. We will be relying on email, facebook and our Kids4Cure team page here to spread awareness & fundraise. We hope you will embrace the changes and continue to help us work towards the ultimate, A CURE for ALS!! Thank you for all your encouragement, love & support over the past 6 years.

Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
