FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Event FAQs

What is the Cant' Stop, Won't Stop Challenge?
The Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge is your opportunity to choose any endurance activity and be apart of Team Challenge ALS. Team Challenge in the past was only for runners in the Pittsburgh Marathon. Since The ALS Association is not an official charity of the Pittsburgh Marathon this year, we shifted gears and developed the Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge to include runners, bikers, climbers, and any other athlete that wants to use their passion for endurance to make a difference for ALS families. You do not have to sign up for an official event to participate! You can set your challenge to meet any personal goals you have as well.

Where is the event?
Wherever you are! There is no in-person Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge event organized by the Chapter. The Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge is your opportunity to participate in any organized endurance event or personal challenge in Pittsburgh or across the country! We will give you the platform to tie your endurance efforts with your fundraising goals for The ALS Association by providing a fundraising website and tools.

Is The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter an official "Run for a Reason Charity" in the 2021 Pittsburgh Marathon?
No, but you can still run with the Pittsburgh Marathon and sign up for the Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge. And, if you raise more than $1,500, we'll reimburse your Pittsburgh Marathon registration fee up to $150.

Is there an incentive program for participants?
YES! When you register and make a self-donation of $25+ we will send you a welcome packet with official Team Challenge ALS gear: a bag and gloves! PLUS...

  • Raise $250 - earn a Team Challenge ALS jersey
  • Raise $500 - earn your Team Challenge ALS medal
  • Raise $1,000 - earn ALS Association swag
  • Raise $1,500 - become a VIP! We will reimburse your registration fee for your event or give you a voucher for entry into the 2022 Pittsburgh Marathon. (up to $150)

Registration and Participant Center FAQs

How do I register?
Have you ever participated in an ALS Chapter event in the past? If you answered YES, then you have a username and password for our website! We recommend logging in before you register to make the process easy for you! The system will remember you and all of your past information, including edits to your personal pages. Select 'Register' on the home page to begin.

What are the costs involved, and what do they provide?
There is no upfront fee to participate in the Can't Stop, Won't Stop Challenge as part of Team Challenge ALS, however, all participants are asked to raise minimums to receive various perks like jerseys and medals! You can see the incentive levels and prizes on the "Fundraising Tips" page. All funds raised support families living with ALS in our community.

Chapter staff are here to help you with your fundraising goals. Reach out for ideas and guidance.

Team FAQs

Are there additional charges to have a team?
No, but each member of the team is to fundraise to earn the incentives.

How many members must I have to form a team?
A team can be two people, twenty people, or more.

As a team captain or member of a team, can I raise all the money and then distribute it to other members of my team?
We strongly discourage this. For many people, participating is a challenge. Whether it’s the physical challenge or the effort it takes to reach a fundraising goal, both components are part of the Team Challenge ALS experience. Having every participant raise funds makes charity events special. Everyone participating will have something in common - they provided hope to people living with ALS.
