The picture above represents the last, in person, Physics Fierro Team, for the Lehigh Valley Walk to Defeat ALS Fundraiser (I believe 2018). This was such a great day. As you can see, we had a significant turnout, representing friends, family, colleagues, mentors, therapists, caregivers, and prior students of Paul’s.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neuromuscular disease that progressively eliminates a person’s ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe – leaving you unable to do anything for yourself, essentially, you become trapped in your own body – there is no point to sugar coat it.
If it were not for the support of, The ALS Association the Greater Philadelphia Chapter, Paul and I would have been left to navigate these insurmountable challenges alone. They provide care services, ALS clinics, Home Care, Loaner Programs, Assistive Technology, Transportation, Resource & Support Groups, and much much more.
As many know, Paul passed on November 8, 2020, from this horrible disease. This was just over five years from diagnosis. As you can imagine, during this time, how connected and dependent one becomes on the support and services provided by The ALS Association.
In memory of Paul, my goal is to recruit the largest Physics Fierro Team for this 2021 Lehigh Valley Walk, which will be held on Saturday, October 9th at Cedar Crest College. We can do this together!
Let us make 2021 the best turnout yet, while surpassing our goal!
Thank you for your support. Kim - and loving memory of Paul.
