Welcome! The JL ALS Allstars walk team is very excited to have you participate. There are mutiple different ways for you to participate in the 2021 Walk to Defeat ALS event. You can make a donation, join the walk team or do both. All proceeds go to the ALS Association of New Mexico. The goal of the assocation is to provide services and suport to families fighting Lou Gehrig's here in New Mexico.
The captains of the team are Broc Galbreth and Ben Walton who all have all served on the ALS Association of New Mexico board. The team name has a meaning for Ben and Broc. The "J" stands for Jeff Highlander, who is Broc's uncle, that has ALS and the "L" stands for Loren Dils, Max and Ben's long time friend, that is also fighting the disease. Any support you can give is much appreciated!
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
