Thank you for your consideration in helping us reach our fundraising goal! The Kirk Clan Team will walk in memory of Richard "Dick" Kirk in the October 31 2020 Dallas Walk to Defeat ALS® Fundraiser! This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. This is our 10th year to participate in the ALS Walk!
Our personal experience: In 2009 Richard was healthy and active - running and biking several hours a week. Following several muscular issues and many doctor visits, he was diagnosed with ALS in 2010. As this dreadful disease progressed, Dick required a power wheelchair to get around, power lift for transfers, a ventilator for breathing, a feeding tube for nourishment, and 24 hr nursing care. On Sept 27, 2014 Richard's courageous battle came to an end. The ALS Association provided comprehensive support for Dick and Mary throughout this journey - and the Kirk family has experienced what a good and important organization they are -- so we want to raise funds in support of the ALS Association and for all families affected by ALS.
Donating is simple - just click on a team member which will take you to their personal page, and then the Donate button and use your credit card to make your tax-deductible contribution (you'll get an email receipt from ALSA). For those outside the US, overseas credit cards can be used with no issues. There are also options to donate by check or cash. Let me know if you've got questions (email@example.com) (512-657-3613). Any contribution is deeply appreciated!
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
Thanks from the Kirk Clan!
2020 Walk Location: due to COVID-19 considerations, ALSA has decided not to hold a centralized event in Dallas, and ask each of the area teams to walk in their neighborhood. Kirk Clan has asked each of our team members to please walk with their household group in their neighborhood and send us your selfie on Sat Oct 31! We will make a photo-collage for our 2020 Walk Team Photo.
