On Sunday, October 28th, Big Guy's Bunch will once again participate in the New Haven Walk to Defeat ALS!
So much has happened in the fight against ALS since Grandpa passed away in 2006 - but I can't think of anything more exciting - or more encouraging - than the recent news that the FDA approved the first new treatment specifically for ALS in 22 years!
I feel like I should say it again - the FDA approved the first new treatment specifically for ALS in 22 years! How amazing is that!? This drug, Radicava, has been demonstrated to slow the decline of physical function in ALS patients by 33 percent.
The ALS Association recently announced that there are several other drugs to treat ALS currently in clinical trials as well. These treatments could potentially add YEARS on to someone’s life.It could mean the difference between having a chronic disease and a terminal one.
These developments are a direct result of the support of people like you!
We are closer than ever to ending this terrible disease. But we can't stop now. Please join us again this year in the fight against ALS! This year - and every year - until we find a cure!

Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
