The Wetzel family is committed to raising money to support people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and to spreading awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure for this disease. Debbie was diagnosed with ALS several years ago so we know firsthand the challenges presented to ALS patients and their families by this crippling disease.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to a Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs an individual of their ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, no cure, and it costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need.
Unfortunately our family cannot participate in this year's Cleveland Walk to Defeat ALS on September 13, 2020. However, we ask you to share our commitment to raise money for individuals with this horrible disease by clicking on the Donate button at the top right of this page and make a donation to The ALS Association. No contribution is too small or too large. THANK YOU – for helping us to make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
