In August 2010, our cousin Paola from Sicily was diagnosed with ALS, or SLA in Sicily. Paola lives in Solarino, Sicily with her husband, Salvo and their two young children. At the time she was diagnosed Paola was 40 years old, it was soon after she had given birth to their son Elia and their daughter Eva was almost five. Nine years later, Paola is still fighting this disease with the amazing care of her home nurses.
I would like to invite you to join our family and friends as we Walk to Defeat ALS on Sunday June 2rd at Saddle River County Park in Saddle Brook, New Jersey. We are walking for Paola that day and to help others with ALS. I hope you will be able to join us or donate to our team.
Check in is at 9:30am and there will be an opening ceremony at 10:30am. We are getting new shirts this year so when we go live Paola will be able to see us all walk proudly for her and all those living with this disease!
