On May 27th, we lost an amazing colleague, friend and confidante, Steve Goldstein. For 16 years, he was my right hand man, always there with his unwavering support and guidance. Steve took great pride with what he was able to help accomplish at work, and he truly enjoyed the camaraderie of his "work family" at the County Council.
Making others a priority was what Steve did during his life, and I now want to make him our priority by participating in this walk. Steve never let ALS defeat him in spirit, always finding a way to handle his adversity in a stoic and pragmatic way. But he struggled mightily, ALS is a merciless disease that has claimed the lives of far too many people.
Together we can make a difference inthe lives of those affected by ALS. Steve's Squad is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk toDefeat ALS® and donate to our cause.
Amyotrophiclateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. Thelife expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS canstrike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
