THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE 2021 GREATER SAN DIEGO WALK TO DEFEAT ALS!
The Annual Walk to Defeat ALS is the Greater San Diego Chapter’s most important fundraiser each year – we are amazed how, despite difficult circumstances, you have all come together again this year so creatively, generously, and with so much love and inspiration. Thank you so much for your unwavering support in the Fight Against ALS.
As you are all aware, this year’s Walk to Defeat ALS on Sunday October 17 has gone “Virtual” to keep the health and wellbeing of our entire ALS Community as the #1 priority. “Walk Your Way” is the 2021 event theme, which refers to the many different ways you can participate virtually while maintaining physical distances and still raising money to help people, families, and caretakers affected by ALS.
On Sunday October 17, you choose your own way to participate - whether it be a stroll in your neighborhood, steps in the backyard, at a park, beach, or mountain hike, on a treadmill, or even surfing a few good waves or going for a drive. However you participate, please do so in a way that is both safe and meaningful for you.
IDEAS FOR YOUR WALK
Walk Around Your Neighborhood - This is a great way to include your community and spread awareness. Map out your route, and decorate your front yard for a celebration after your Walk. Carry team and mission message signs! Wear your favorite team t-shirt! Challenge others to join you online from anywhere in the world in the virtual camaraderie of the day. We’re here to help.
Go for a Hike - Spread your Walk-day spirit on your favorite trail! Carry team and mission message signs! Wear your favorite team t-shirt! Challenge others to join you online from anywhere in the world in the virtual camaraderie of the day.
*Visit a Park - Find your favorite park nearby and invite close family and friends. Map out your route, and decorate a picnic table for a celebration after your Walk. *if local and state guidelines allow at the time of the Oct. 17 Walk.
Have a Car Parade – Car parades can be a great way to celebrate the occasion. Decorate your cars and front yards. Invite your local fire department, local businesses, and others in your neighborhood to really put on a show!
Stay Home - Just because you’re indoors, doesn’t mean you can’t still walk! Create a fun route, complete with snack stops and dance breaks.
