More than just a few-mile trek, the Walk to Defeat ALSŪ is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, to raise money for a cure, and to come together for something you care about. The Walk to Defeat ALSŪ is The ALS Association’s biggest annual event, which raises funds that allow our local chapters to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year.

- Walkers should prepare for the weather; the walk
goes on RAIN OR SHINE. Please dress appropriately.
(Layers are always a good idea!)
- We will have FREE limited parking available at
Santander bank located at 191 Mt. Vernon Street Boston, MA. Please arrive early
to ensure a spot. Please do not park in marked off areas; that parking is for
employees and you are at risk of being towed. It is a short walk to the sire OR
we will have accessible shuttle to the site running back and forth starting at
8:30 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The shuttle will pick up at the entrance of
the parking lot right at the traffic circle. Please look for the sign. If you
prefer to walk, please see directions.
- There is some street parking along William J.
Day Boulevard, but you must come early for those spots!
- There will also be designated handicap parking
located at 125 William J. Day Boulevard, South Boston, MA Boston Teacher’s
Union parking lot. These parking spaces will ONLY be limited to handicap
- We encourage folks to use the MBTA if possible.
Take bus line 41 to Columbia Road and JFK/UMASS Station. By Commuter Rail: Take
the Red Line to JFK/UMASS station. Please look for the signs out in front of
the station OR you can take the short walk to the site.
- Check-in for the Walk begins at 9:00 AM. The Walk
will begin at 11:00 AM. Go directly to
the Registration Tent upon arrival. If
you have raised $75 + as an individual you will be directed to the t-shirt
table from registration.
- If you are an All Star Member (have raised
$1,000+ as an individual) please proceed to the All Star Check-In line upon
arriving! You have until Friday, October 24th at 4 p.m. to have money turned in
to achieve All Star status!
- We strongly encourage, if possible, securing
donations online before the Walk.
- If you are bringing donations to the Walk
remember to have any money you are turning in counted, in an envelope with your
Name/Team Name/$ Total printed clearly on the outside. Having change converted to bills would be
- If you are bringing team members who have not
registered for your team online, please direct them to the “Day Of” area in the
Registration tent. Online registration will close on Friday, October 24th at
4:00 p.m. If you haven’t registered by this time, please visit the registration
tent to register day of.
- We will be serving light breakfast items and
snacks this year! Thank you so much to our donors: Starbucks of South Boston,
Yell-O-Glow, Rich Kenney, Cabot Creamery, Utz Potato Chips, Muffin Town, and
- We will have 4 Food Trucks that will be joining
us after the walk for lunch! We encourage you to try them out. A portion of the
proceeds of food purchases will come back to the Walk to Defeat ALS! Thank you
to Rhythm N Wraps, Benney’s Crepe Café, Tenoch Mexican, and Teri-Yummy.
- The will be EMT and ambulance services at the
walk site in the event of an emergency.
- We will be having face painting, Dave &
Buster’s,. And other fun activities at the children’s tent!

Association staff members, who will be
wearing bright red jackets. We
