Hello and thank you to all who have been with Team Ben in the past. The Walk to Defeat ALS is coming up. I'm glad the Walk is in October because Ben and I were married October 12, 1991. I've enjoyed thinking of those times lately.
I am going to walk in honor and memory of Ben, and I'd love to have anyone join me. I understand if you prefer to walk on your own, in this awkward, socially distant time. That's the direction the Walk organizers are taking. There won't be an organized public event.
Ben lost the fight with ALS in January 2019. He worked hard, and kept a good attitude through frustrating and devastating changes in his physical abilities. I walk to honor his courage and strength. I walk because I can, and I won't take that for granted ever again. I walk and financially support the North Texas ALS Association Chapter to promote their goals of finding a cure, and helping people who are in the fight for their lives; hoping one day to find a cure.
Ben appreciated the NTALSA and what they do. Join in helping others who face the struggles that Ben did, and do it with far fewer resources and a smaller community of loving friends and family than he had.
I don't do Facebook much anymore. I didn't write any of the text below. It's good information. I am thankful for your time and attention to this. Walk with us. Donate if you can. Remember Ben.
Thank you, Alison

ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
