Helen Schwanger McCombs is a native of Elizabethtown, PA. She is the youngest of 5 siblings born to Walter and Lois Schwanger. Helen graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1997. Helen stayed in Elizabethtown for a few years before relocating a couple of times before finally settling down in Arkansas. Helen and her husband, Eric were married in 2010 and their daughter Emma was born in 2011. Helen has dedicated her life to helping others and living by the word of God. She is a kind, loving and thoughtful soul who puts others first.
On June 2, 2015, Helen and her family received confirmation that the symptoms she had been having for several months were in fact due to a confirmed diagnosis of ALS.
Why We Need Your Help
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
We will walk in honor of Helen, on the fifth anniversary of her diagnosis.
