February 1, 2010 changed my family's lives forever - it was the day Charlie was given a definitive diagnosis of ALS.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. Though Charlie defied the timeline of 2-5 years, this relentless disease took him from us. And that’s why we're walking to help change the statistics and to bring hope to those living with the disease and to ensure that no one ever hears the words “You have ALS” again.
The ALS Association stood by my family every step of the way in our journey with this dreaded disease. It ensured that we had the information and tools necessary to help Charlie. My family will be forever indebted to them for what they have done for us. So please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of other families affected by ALS.
