It has been eleven years since Ray was diagnosed with ALS and nine years since he died. He never gave up and remained positive until the end.
The battle was all consuming. He learned sign language and used a communication device to speak what he typed. He used a wheelchair, oxygen, a nebulizer, a C-Pap, and a suction machine. He had a feeding tube. We bought a van with an automatic ramp. We sought counseling and joined a support group in Hershey. Sun Home nurses and hospice visited regularly. We were supported by our God, family, friends, and church family.
We were guided through this insidious disease by the superb staff at the ALS Clinic in Hershey.
Ray lives on in our memories and is greatly missed. Please prayerfully consider donating to this very worthwhile research so questions can be answered and people with this disease can have the hope of a cure. Thank you so very much for your prayers and your donations.
