This is our fourth year at the Hershey Walk. We will continue to walk in honor of Bob's life, endless spirit, and sense of humor even in the face of ALS. He's a part of our lives every single day, even a year and a half after he's passed.
Why You Should Join Us
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. As Bob said, it's like you're slowly trapped in your own body.
Every 90 minutes someone's life is changed by an ALS diagnosis, and every 90 minutes another family is torn apart by a loved one's passing from the disease. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. It can strike anyone. Still today there is no known cause of the disease. It costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year, and we were lucky to have the support of the ALS Association and others to help pay for Bob's care. Your donations can help us find a cause, find a cure, and find hope for other families in the same position.
Join us to share Bob's endless spirit, so that one day no other family will feel the pain of this terrible disease.
Lunch will again be served at the Poiesz house after!
