If you know me, you know how personal this fight against ALS is for me now that I've worked alongside committed volunteers, passionate caregivers, and unimaginably strong people living with ALS in my four years at The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter. We are ready to make ALS a thing of the past, and we need your help to UNLOCK effective treatments and a cure. Hundreds of North Carolinians living with ALS should not have to wait!
Please make a donation of any amount to show you share our commitment to supporting people in our community with ALS and spreading awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Help us raise our Down East Walk goal of $90,000! ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body ofits ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need.
Donations to The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter help in three ways in the effort to achieve our vision of a world without ALS. We use our core values of compassion, integrity, and urgency to lead us in our mission to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. The time for action is now - nearly 500 people living with ALS across North Carolina can't wait! Please make a donation of any amount today to help us end ALS.
I can't wait to do it all again in 2019, and every year until a cure! Thank you for your continued support.
