We are Rosi Rodriguez and Perry Pedersen, wife-and-husband, who know firsthand how dancing and bicycling make the world a happier and healthier place. We also know firsthand about a dance-hindering, bike-hindering, and walk-hindering disease called ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or “Lou Gehrig’s disease”. In 2012, Carolyn, a new neighbor who brought our neighborhood together, was diagnosed with ALS. In early 2015, a “dance pal,” Eleanor, was also diagnosed with ALS.
For this year's Pedal & Swing ALS Association fundraising activity, Rosi and Perry will have a "dance booth" at the ALS Walk, at Albuquerque's Isotopes Park, where ALS Walk participants can donate for a dance (to live music on a cardboard dance floor!), donate for dance lesson certificates ("Jitterbug"/Swing lessons), and donate for other dance-related items.
Our Pedal & Swing mission is to facilitate donations to the ALS Association, in honor of Eleanor and Carolyn, and to facilitate donations to the MS Society, in honor of Erik, our son; to support those affected by these disease, to fund ALS and MS research, and to ultimately find cures for these diseases.
