Team Johnston is ready for our 4th Annual Walk to DeFeat ALS!! 

Hello my name is Sue Lawler… I am a member of TEAM JOHNSTON, and most importantly I am the proud sister of Dave Johnston.  Four years ago our family and friends lives were forever altered when the doctors informed my brother and his wife, Mel that although he was only 41 years old, he had ALS.  

 
When my husband, LaBrent and I sat down to explain ALS to my own children, we were desperate to give Cameron and Mikaela a way to feel like they could make a difference for Dave and the many others who battle this disease.  This disease makes you feel so powerless and gives you little chance for hope. Yet,  Dave and many others who are diagnosed with ALS, have fought so strongly to not let this disease define them.

 This disease was not anything that any of us planned on; we didn't get to chose whether or not it was going to enter our lives.  However, it has entered all of our lives and changed them forever. To me, what is incredible, is knowing that when we come together to walk.......we will make a difference and this disease is not going to win.  
 
So I am asking all of you… to not only stand up to this disease and join us on October 10th  but to celebrate your loved ones.  My brother has shown me what real courage, faith and love is ……and also how important moments are.  Today I will cherish another day….. and we will celebrate that TODAY we are together. 

All of us together can not be ignored, we are walking so that we can be heard.... and someday we will have a cure.    Thank you and GOD BLESS!
