This year, on Saturday, May 2nd, we invite you to join us to honor our late mother, Sheila, by participating in the NYC Walk to Defeat ALS. This April marks 9 years since she lost her battle to ALS, which took her a mere 2.5 years following her diagnosis. Losing our mother, who was always our family’s north star, became a defining moment in each of our lives. The NYC Walk to Defeat ALS has provided us an opportunity to heal and honor her memory, while supporting those battling the disease.
As most of you know, ALS, or Lou Gerihg's Disease, is a progressive and universally fatal neuromuscular disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Patients afflicted with this devastating illness lose their ability to walk, talk, eat, and breathe on their own. There is currently no known cause or cure.
This is a day that we’ve come to cherish. We are proud to announce that we raised $14,778 last year and hope to raise another $10,000 this year. Whether you’re able to join us in person or support from afar, we are eternally grateful for each and every one of you who has consistently been there for our family and helped bring awareness to this fight.
