We are now approaching the third year since Sherry's diagnois. As many of you are aware, Sherry was diagnosed with ALS in July of 2016, Over the past 2 1/2 years we have seen the disease progress to the point that she is having to use a motorized wheel chair around the house and anytime we wish to go out. We are still blessed that she is able to speak and eat, though with some assistance. Her breathing has not yet been affected,
I am now asking you to help us reach our Walk to Defeat ALS® fundraising goal! The past 2 years Sherry's Striders has been in the top 7 teams in North Florida. We would love to be number l this year. This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Sherry is doing her part by having taken part in 6 research studies in the past 30 months. The most recent study is running for 48 weeks and she is one of only 10. world wide. While she doesn't expect these studies to help her, she is hopeful that her participation will lead to a cure in the future. The past few years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of patients and their families. WE CAN'T STOP NOW!
Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
