Team Schroeder was formed in 2011 by the employees of Flathead Orthopedics and the Orthopedic Surgery Center in support of newly diagnosed PALS Erik Schroeder, a physician who cared for patients at both facilities. An amazing number of friends and family have since joined and supported Team Schroeder, and they have been the top fundraising team at the Missoula ALS walk for each of the past 6 years, raising a total of more than $217,000 This year, they hope to sneak up on the $250,000 mark!
Erik retired from the practice of medicine at the end of 2013, and he misses and is missed by both the care team and the patients at Flathead Orthopedics and the Orthopedic Surgery Center. The presence of Team Schroeder at the Missoula ALS walk has grown every year and has turned into quite a party of friends, family, kids, and dogs, all sharing a common connection to Erik, Andrea, and their family. Through Erik's disease, many are learning to live life to its fullest, with Joy, Courage, Faith, and Connection, with or without ALS!

Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will die from the disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
