JoeDaniel and I would like to invite you to participate in the second annul ABA’s Community Outreach event with the ALS Association, a nonprofit focused on finding a cure for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and supportingthose afflicted with it.
Many of you likely remember the Ice Bucket Challenge that swept the country and ourFacebook feeds several years ago. Playing off that theme, ABA is organizing an American Bankers Association Icing Out ALS walk team to participate in a 5K walk on Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at the Washington Monument.
The walk will raise money to support people in our local community with ALS and spreadawareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. It costs over $250,000 ayear to care for a loved one diagnosed with ALS, and we hope our contributionscan help those families and individuals given 2-5 years life expectancy.
Joe and I can personally attest to the value ofsuch support and the need for a cure. We have each lost a parent to thishorrible neuromuscular disease.
