Beat the Odds
Welcome to our team page where we are fighting to beat the odds of ALS! For those of you who do not know, this is a very personal fight for us. Earlier this year my father, Scott, was diagnosed with this debilitating disease. He has proven himself a fighter in the past after being diagnosed with and defeating throat cancer. During that time he received an incredible amount of love and support from friends and family near and far, and we are hoping we can count on you all to be there again as he fights through this.
For those of you looking to walk with us on Oct 14th please register as a walker with our team. You must be registered in order to walk. You are not at all obligated to make a donation or fund raise to walk even though it will ask you to set a "goal". It is NOT mandatory that you reach that goal. However, every dollar that is raised goes to the foundation to help support research and provide medical assistance for those affected by ALS. If you are unable to join us for the walk but wish to make a donation to the team you may do that as well. Like I said, every little bit helps! For those of you who are unable to do either we still thank you for your love and support throughout this journey!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email at Amber.Logue@yahoo.com.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
