More than just a few-mile trek, the Walk to Defeat ALSŪ is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, to raise money for a cure, and to come together for something you care about. The Walk to Defeat ALSŪ is The ALS Association’s biggest annual event, which raises funds that allow our local chapters to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year.

We Have an Exciting Announcement!!!!

Due to the tremendous outpouring of support from the Ice Bucket Challenge, and the amazing dedication of all our Walk participants and Team Captains, we have achieved our Walk goal faster than any other Walk in The Golden West Chapter's history!! With this in mind, we have decided to raise our fundraising goal to make this the most successful South Bay Walk to Defeat ALS ever! If we achieve our new "stretch" goal, the South Bay Walk will be one of the most successful Walks to Defeat ALS across the entire country!

This is a major accomplishment and with this type of growth, we will be able to take The ALS Association's pursuit of creating a world without ALS even further! To put things in perspective, here are some examples of what this increased goal means for funding our mission:

1.) $10,000 could help provide twenty speech and communication assessments for critically-needed augmentative communication devices
2.) $20,000 could help sponsor four days of regional satellite clinics to ensure easier access to comprehensive, multidisciplinary team care
3.) $40,000 could help offer four "Ask the Experts" educational symposium to learn about the latest developments in ALS patient care,  public policy and research
4.) $50,000 could help fund our nineteen monthly support groups, serving hundreds of people with ALS and their loved ones for an entire year
