Veterans are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ALS
Military veterans regardless of the branch of service, regardless of the era in which they served, and regardless of whether they served during a time of peace or a time of war are at a greater risk of dying from ALS than if they had not served in the military. With the help of scientists, federal agencies, and ALS advocates, we are making progress toward understanding why.
Providing Veterans with ALS the Care They Deserve
For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ALS and more often than not receive care through a nationwide network of VA Hospitals. Your support has helped The ALS Association operationalize the first ALS Certified Center at a VA Hospital in Ohio ensuring the highest level of standardize care for the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform.
