Dear Friend,
I
want you to be one of the first to know! Today, a leading scientific journal
published a paper about an exciting new gene that we at Project MinE hope will
lead to promising therapeutics in the future.
The
gene, NEK1, was discovered by a team of more than 80 researchers in 11
countries who contribute to Project MinE’s global gene sequencing effort. NEK1 is now known as one of the
most common genetic contributors of ALS and gives scientists an exciting new
target for drug development.
Since
Project MinE received a $1 million grant from The ALS Association in the wake
of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, we have been able to expand our operation
significantly. This new discovery is a direct result of your generosity and we
couldn’t be more grateful.
Thanks
to you, Project MinE and its contributing researchers are getting closer to a
treatment for this disease!
Sincerely,
Bernard
