Paul Ingholt, Past President, Vienna, VA,

Paul has served as a member of the Chapter’s Board of Director’s since 2014; he was appointed President of the Board in February 2016. Paul has more than two decades of experience in financial and budget management and strategy as a government executive and business leader.  Currently a Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton, Paul manages financial performance, ensures the development of effective business strategies, and promotes the integration of capabilities to address emerging client challenges. Paul was inspired by seeing people with ALS compete in endurance events and will bring his expertise to the fight against ALS by helping to ensure the Chapter’s vision, embodied in its strategic plan, is both ambitious and achievable. His involvement with the Chapter is further strengthening the great relationship between the Chapter and Booz Allen Hamilton.  Paul has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington and a J.D.  cum laude from the Washington College of Law at The American University.  He is an avid triathlete with multiple Ironman finishes. He lives with his wife Dana Bauer in Vienna.

Robert D. Roseman (Bob), President, Potomac, MD

Bob joined the Chapter’s Board of Directors since April, 2009, serving on the Development Committee.  Bob has been an attorney in private practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia for more than 39 years, specializing in transactional commercial real estate, general corporate and business transactions, not-for-profit corporation and association representation.  He has served as Chairman, President, Treasurer, Director, and outside legal counsel for a number of charitable and other not-for-profit-corporations.  Bob lost his beloved wife of nearly 34 years to ALS in August 2008 and has since focused his charitable efforts on the cause of fighting ALS.

Scott Golden, Treasurer, Bethesda, MD

Scott Golden is recognized as an industry leader in the small to mid-size insurance market, and ranks among the area’s top producers according to the Washington Business Journal’s Annual List. He received a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland in 1985, an MBA from George Washington University in 1990, and later a JD and LLM in taxation from the University of Baltimore. His advanced academic and legal degrees enable him to evaluate local and national mandates in conjunction with helping his clients prepare and implement the proper strategy. 

Scott has been appointed as an active liaison for the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), Greater Washington Association of Health Underwriters (GWAHU), and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) with the DC Insurance Exchange Commission where he attends meetings with their lobbyist to assist in defining the changes that will affect DC businesses with regards to the DC Health Benefits Exchange.

Andrew Berman, Assistant Treasurer, Rockville MD

Andrew joined the Chapter's Board of Directors in 2013 to try and help to make a difference.  As the President of Spectrum Printing & Graphics he is proud to be able to help the fight against this disease by donating printing/mailing/design services to the ALS Association but felt that wasn't enough and he needed to get more involved.  Andrew's mother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 and he was constantly awed and inspired by her strength, courage and dignity as she continued to fight her losing battle against ALS. He is committed to supporting the mission and work of the ALS Association because he and his family have seen first hand the tremendous amount of support, resources, information and the comfort they provide for those suffering with the disease and their families.

Steven M. Wellner, Secretary, Washington D.C.

Steve first served as a member of the Chapter’s Board of Directors from 1999 to 2008 and was President from 2002 to 2006.  He returned to the Board in 2011. Steve is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Michigan Law School. He was an environmental lawyer in private practice until joining the District of Columbia government in 2006. Steve and his family have been supporters of The ALS Association since his father’s death from ALS in 1989.

Alethia Baggett, Alexandria, VA 

Alethia joined the Chapter's Board of Directors in December 2014. She is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer at the American Bankers Association.  She has over 20 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources, working in the Media, Healthcare and Finance industries.  Alethia became connected to The ALS Association in 1999 when her step-father was diagnosed with limb onset ALS. Experiencing first-hand the devastation this disease can bring to a family, Alethia became a committed advocate. Since then she has been an active fundraiser, Chapter member and Walk participant in Atlanta, GA, NYC (where she was a Walk to D’Feet Chair), and now the VA/DC/ MD Chapter.

Richard Bodson (Dick), McLean, VA 

Dick joined the Board of Directors in January 2014 to join the fight against ALS. He brings over 30 years of federal contracting large and small business leadership experience to help further the ALSA programs. Dick is also the proud son of Henry Bodson, one of the founding leaders and an Honorary Director of today’s DC/MD/VA ALSA Chapter. Dick and Henry are highly motivated by the brave fight of their mother/wife, Belle, who passed away from ALS in 1984 after a 12-year battle. Dick is a graduate of the University of Virginia and lives with his wonderful wife, Barbara. Their two children, Beth and Jim, support the Association in their respective Virginia and Florida communities. The extended Bodson family including Dick’s niece, and her husband and children (Dawn, Dave, David, and Henry McCarthy) gather in Washington, DC each autumn and Walk to Defeat ALS!

Jeff Brainard, Vice President, Washington D.C.

Jeff joined the Board of Directors in May 2017 to join the fight against ALS in a greater capacity. Jeff is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Southern Management Companies Hotel Division and is based in Hanover, MD at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve. Jeff is responsible for all sales and marketing operations at four hospitality properties located in College Park and Hanover, Maryland as well as a resort in Macungie, PA. In addition, he participates in multiple industry groups and panels on travel and hospitality. Jeff was initially motivated to join the fight against ALS when his stepfather was diagnosed with the disease in 2011; a fight he succumbed to in June of 2018. Jeff was also touched by ALS with the loss of two of his hotel associates while with Two Roads Hospitality in Washington DC. Jeff’s wife Beth and teenage son Joseph are also active in supporting the efforts of the Chapter and are a tremendous source of on-going support.

Sally Horner, Montross, VA 

Sally has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2008.  She currently serves as Chair of the Patient and Family Care Services Committee.  Sally is a Nurse Practitioner with the Gastroenterology Group of Naples, Florida where she practices seven months of the year, and then resides in Virginia for the other five months. She has had personal experience with ALS -- her husband died of the disease in 2006.

Betsy Lichtschein, Annapolis, MD

Betsy's most recent career was in the world of Licensing for Panini S.p.A. with its headquarters in Modena, Italy. After celebrating her thirty years with colleagues in 2016  where she worked with major corporations and sports leagues both in the USA and abroad to obtain rights for the products created by Panini, she turned her focus to raise awareness for ALS by working on various committees and events to assist those families suffering from ALS. She is a Sponsor for the Walk to Defeat ALS in Baltimore raising funds for her team as well as the ALS Dine to Defeat Event in DC with both silent and live auction items. Betsy lost her husband, Howard Mont, to ALS in September 2013. He was a creative force in the world of Industrial Design. He would be so very proud and thrilled to know that a great grandson was born in April 2019. Betsy holds a Master's Degree in Italian from Middlebury College, and will be returning to those routes this winter at AACC teaching Italian once again.

Craig Rice, Germantown, MD

Craig is a Montgomery County, Maryland Councilmember. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Maryland, he graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Computer Science. The fight against ALS is deeply personal for Mr. Rice, having lost his former Chief of Staff and friend Dr. Steven Goldstein to ALS this past May. He has volunteered his time with The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter on several occasions in the past, including serving as the auctioneer for the D.C. Dine to Defeat ALS dinner. Mr. Rice currently lives in Germantown, Maryland with his wife and children.

Thomas Mohler, PE, Baltimore, MD

Tom became a member of the Chapter’s Board of Directors in 2018. He is a Partner at RK&K with 34 years’ experience as a leader, mentor and designer overseeing transportation planning and design in 23 offices throughout the East Coast.  In 2002 he was named Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Maryland Section for his exemplary work on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge project. A native of Baltimore, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College in 1984. He is a registered professional engineer in Maryland, and 12 other states, and has been an active member of the American Consulting Engineers Council of Maryland, serving as President in 1997, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Tom is a passionate ALS advocate, supporting the cause in honor of his brother Emile who lost his battle to ALS in 2017. In addition to his duties on the board, Tom also participates in the Baltimore Walk to Defeat ALS® as team captain of The E-Team. 

Keith A. Segalman, MD, Baltimore, MD 

Dr. Segalman has been a member of the Chapter's Board since 2018. He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital and completed his fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the Curtis National Hand Center. Dr. Segalman is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is an attending hand surgeon who is actively involved in surgical education, didactics, anatomy and research for fellows and residents. Dr. Segalman sub-specializes in wrist, elbow, shoulder and brachial plexus disorders. His research interests include anatomy, biomechanics of the wrist and forearm and small joint disorders. He is active in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and currently chairs its public awareness committee. In 2015, Dr. Segalman lost his wife Paula to ALS--in her memory the Segalman Family created the Paula Kovarick Segalman Family Scholarship Fund for ALS. The scholarship helps to alleviate the additional financial burden that ALS families face when paying for college. 

Scott B. Evans, Arlington, VA

Scott is a Financial Analyst for Discovery Capital Management. A long-time supporter of The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter, he has participated in the Chapter’s D.C. Dine to Defeat ALS dinner with his wife. A strong advocate in the fight against ALS, Mr. Evans lost a dear friend and college classmate to the disease. Originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mr. Evans attended Wittenberg University and currently lives in Arlington, Virginia.

Kevin H. Smith, Gaithersburg, MD 

Kevin has been involved in commercial real estate for over 24 years.  He is a co-founder and managing partner of Winmar Capital Partners (WCP), a boutique multifamily investment firm located in Washington, DC.  Kevin’s areas of focus over the course of his career has included investment banking, development, acquisitions and asset management.  Kevin is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where he is a Full Member.  Kevin is also a member of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC).   Kevin became involved in raising funds for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the ALS Association since his Father-in-Law was diagnosed with ALS over three years ago.  

Zachery R. Daniel, Arlington, VA

Zachery is currently a Vice President in the Commercial Banking Group at Atlantic Union Bank. He has over a decade of experience in the field of banking with over 15 years of experience working in the not-for-profit and association space. Zach became a warrior in the mission to defeat ALS when his father Linwood Doyle Daniel Jr. was first diagnosed in 2011. He has firsthand knowledge of the disease both as a son and as a care provider. Zach’s father found the VA Chapter extremely helpful as he and his family navigated the unchartered waters of the disease. Zach received his BA from Lynchburg College, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Arlington Arts Center and is passionate about serving those who serve others.
