The William Jay Armstrong Promise Fund

Bill passed away April 1, 2015 after a very long battle with ALS.

He was born in Hackensack, NJ, December 4, 1941.  He is survived by his wife Elaine of 45 years, his children Amanda Armstrong, Dr. Meredith Howard, her husband Benjamin Howard, and three grandchildren William, Colton, and Wesley Howard. Bill was absolutely thrilled to have three grandchildren with the oldest, William, being his namesake.

Bill was a retired Vice-President and Treasurer of the Ingersoll-Rand Company and a retired Director of JP Morgan Mutual Funds where he served as chairman of the Audit Committee.  He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs and The New Jersey Society of CPAs.  He also enjoyed membership in The Tuxedo Club (Tuxedo Park, NY), The Union League Club (NYC), and The Ocean Reef Club (Key Largo, FL).

He was a lifelong New York Giants fan and an avid golfer and fisherman.  Bill and Elaine have lived at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club (Palm City, FL) since 2002.  They raised their daughters in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

We celebrate Bill's life and thank all of you "angels" who have shown loving and caring support during this difficult journey.

Donations may be made to the William Jay Armstrong Promise Fund, ALS Association FL Chapter, 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619 or via the chapter's website.
