Becky Eades

Rocky Mountain Chapter

Becky Eades

Becky, Joe, and their children, Nate and Katie

Becky has been providing care for her husband, Joe, for a year and a half.  He was first diagnosed in late 2007.  The couple, who have been married for fourteen years, have two children: Katie, seven years-old; and Nate, nine years-old.

Becky and Joe are part of The ALS Association’s Care Connection Program.  They are supported by a “Care Team” which includes seventy-three family and church members and friends.  The team has some notable accomplishments: they helped the family move to a more accessible home, provide weekly meals, help with transportation to appointments and support group meetings, and they provide assistance with household tasks.

Becky reports that although her free time is limited, she enjoys walking her dogs each day and during October spent a weekend with friends.

Becky said, “Doing what is needed, but not overdoing and finding the boundaries is crucial.  And keeping Family First.  Being a family throughout all of it.  Laugh at the little things; if not, you can get too overwhelmed.  We try to maintain as much normalcy in our lives as we can.”
