To begin, launch your team! Once a coordinator has been identified, you can use this form to Find People who Care. Then you can send out an email or a letter to let people know about the Care Connection.
The Coordinator and Family can brainstorm on jobs for their Care Connection team using this form for some examples to get you thinking! Once tasks and participants are identified, participants can sign up for tasks that are a fit for them.
There are two options for communicating and signing up for tasks. The online option utilizes the website Lotsa Helping Hands. Each private community includes an intuitive group calendar for scheduling tasks such as meal delivery and rides, a platform for securely sharing information with designated friends and family members, and customizable sections for posting photos, well wishes, blogs, journals, and messages. Now, when someone asks “what can I do to help?” the answer is “give me your name and email address” the system takes over and allows people to sign up and start helping. The online option is best for groups who have people comfortable with computers, and can be managed by someone out of state.
A paper scheduling system is another option for scheduling. This system works well for groups who have limited computer access. Participants sign up using the Participant Information Form, and communications happen by use of a Telephone Tree. Task Sheet Forms are completed and organized by the coordinator.
