Is the Walk an In-Person Event?
For our ALS community’s safety during the global COVID-19 pandemic, The ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter adheres to guidelines established by the CDC and state, county, and city health officials. Given current guidelines, the 2021 Walk to Defeat ALS is not an in-person event. We will continue to monitor the situation, and consider what might be possible should circumstances change, and keep you posted along the way.
Through Walk Your Way, participants everywhere can celebrate the Walk, knowing others across the region are walking in solidarity on the same day. Walk Your Way gives you control of what Walk Day looks like. Take a walk or ride around your neighborhood, nearby park, or living room. Bring your team together in a way that works for you, take photos, spread the word, and make new memories

Can We Still Gather on the Day that the Walk Has Historically Taken Place?
With Walk Your Way, participants have control of what Walk Day looks like. We encourage Teams to participate how it works best for them.
We hope that as many Teams as possible will participate on Walk Day to make this the biggest Walk to Defeat ALS we have ever had!
