Dear Kids4Cure Supporter,
Victims of ALS are of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. The cause of ALS exists solely in loose theories. The disease’s mystery far exceeds any solid deduction of its progression.
The one truth, however, that has always been trusted is that patients only live two to five years after being diagnosed.
This year we are celebrating our fifth Walk to Defeat ALS in our mother’s fifth year of affliction.
The constant support of family and friends has undoubtedly helped her beat these odds. For this love we are forever grateful.
I thank you mostly for your time, for time is really all we have. Time to work, to play, to spend with family, to hang out with friends. The time you take to read this letter, to join us on walk day, to put on a wristband and raise awareness…are sacrifices we want you to know we appreciate.
The existing truth is that time is running out. More victims are being robbed of their own time. In a society in which public empathy is dominated by statistics and popular diseases are publicized by celebrities, ALS continues to fade as a trivial piece of the widespread and government agenda. It is time to find a cure.
For the 5th year, my brother and I are co-captaining our Kids4Cure team in the Walk to Defeat ALS. Our goal this year is to raise $55,555. We hope to see you on October 5th at Winton Woods or that you become a “virtual walker” and become part of our team.
Thank you,Paul Jr. (17)
Dear Kids4Cure Supporter,
We are heading into our 5th year of participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. When my brother and I created Kids4Cure in our mother’s honor, we never thought we would have so much support from our community.
Even though we created the team, it is all of you who have walked with us and supported us that has allowed us to raise over $235,000 for the ALS Association.
ALS is a fatal disease with no known cure which usually takes the life of patients within 2-5 years. It robs a victim of their ability to speak, walk, eat and eventually breath.
We were devastated when our mom was diagnosed with this fatal disease, and we are thankful that we are entering our 5th Annual Walk with her doing so well, considering it’s rare for an ALS patient to even live more than 5 years.
We’ve made it this far, and we’re not going to give up now!
We would like to see all of our past team members return this year, and in order to reach a record size, we ask that you try and bring 5 friends along with you. If you are unable to walk, this year, please consider being a “virtual walker”.
Thanks again for your support in the past, we hope to see you on October 5th for our 5th Anniversary Walk to Defeat ALS!
Register by clicking on "WALK" above or register on our website at http://www.kids4cure.com. If you would like to make a donation, you are able to make a secure donation to the ALS Association by clicking on "DONATE" above.
Sincerely,Christian (15)
Please help our Mother & 30,000 victims!
Why We Need Your Help
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
1. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
2. Every 90 minutes someone in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
3. ALS can strike anyone. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. Someone you know or love may die from ALS unless a cure is found.
4. Caring for a loved one with ALS costs on average of $200,000 each year.
